Aconcagua (6962 meters above sea-level) is the highest mountain outside Asia.
On new years day 2008 Espen Moe, Thorstein Lunde and I summitted the mountain on the sixteenth day of the ascent. Three days later we were out of the desert-like mountain-terrain. Our only serious incident was Thorstein's acclimatization-problems at Camp Argentina (4200m). At our highest camp - Camp Colera at 6000 meters - we were, however, comfortable. That was due to our strategy of not jumping over any acclimatization steps.
